Day 31: Love
Overcomes Trauma
MIN. PAUL HYPOLITE, JR.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and
learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
– Matthew 11: 28-30 ESV
Jesus offers an open invitation to anyone who feels burdened—whether by the weight of
sin or life’s struggles, to accept a need for rest.
Proper rest is not just physical, but also spiritual and emotional. Rest, resets us with a
deep peace that comes from being in God’s presence and knowing He is fully able. It’s
the truth of every promise that He makes and it’s also the offer He extends to each of
us as we receive, “His yoke.” Jesus’ partnership in the midst of our problems gives us
the direction we need, knowing that He is not asking us to carry our burdens alone, but
rather to be guided by Him.
In this, Christ’s character is revealed. He is approachable, compassionate, and kind. He
doesn’t impose harsh demands or judge harshly; instead, He meets us in rest, with
the promise of deep, soul-level restoration that isn’t temporary, but transformative and
enduring.
