Day 37: Because of
Love

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him may not perish
but may have eternal life.”

The psalmist Al Green knew something when he said, “Love and happiness; something
that can make you do wrong, make you do right.”
Love and happiness are abstract nouns referencing an idea, emotion, feeling, or quality.
If love is or refers to a state or quality of being, then love shapes what we do. It can make
you do right. Love is a catalyst. Love prompts God to give. God’s vision for our lives is
shaped by love. The same love that entices God to act is a model. It’s not what we say that
proves our love but what we do because of it.

How do you show love to those who don’t
reciprocate the love you give?

PRAYER
Lord, remind me again how to love. Show me how to
remain steadfast in the love I give when I’m met in
return with hatred. I pray to be intentional about acting
in love rather than just acting today.This is my prayer,
amen.
